Silvio Daniel da Silva and his family have been growing rice and potatoes since the 90s. Señor Silvio (Silvio's father) and his brothers started growing coffee in 1995. Coffee soon became their passion and Emerson began to learn how to deal with the new crop. Today, Sìtio Sertãozinho coffees are sold 100% on the specialty market. The farm is located in Bairro Sertãozinho, near the municipality of Cristina, in the region of Minas Gerais, famous for its excellent coffee. The key to Sítio Sertãozinho's success, apart from the area's microclimate and altitude, also lies in the fact that Emerson thinks of coffee growing strictly as a family business. From 2015, the family started selective harvesting and in order to raise the quality to a higher level, they also improved the post-harvest processes, such as the use of African raised beds and slower drying.
