Established in the 1990s, Finca Las Flores has evolved from an 18,000-tree farm to a sprawling estate with 90,000 trees. In 2006, the Ayure-Vergara family embarked on their specialty coffee journey by participating in the Cup of Excellence competition. Today, the finca is led by the three sons of the founding couple, Jhoan, Diego and Carlos. In addition to Caturra, the plantation greatly emphasises growing special arabica varieties such as Java, Pink Bourbon, Maracaturra, Sidra and Chiroso. Chiroso was discovered in the Urrao region of Antioquia in the early 2000s. Its popularity skyrocketed when a Chiroso batch won the first place in the 2014 Cup of Excellence competition.
