Homero Aguiar Paiva’s family has been growing coffee in the Santo Antônio do Amparo area since the 19th century. Homero acquired a part of a large local estate, Fazenda Cachoeira, and established Fazenda Guariroba, which is now considered a Cup of Excellence-recognized plantation under the management of Gabriel Lamounier Vieira and Elisa Paiva Lamounier. The 50-hectare plantation currently focuses on specialty coffee production and environment-friendly sustainable practices. Guariroba also participates in a renewable energy project of the UFLA (Universidade Federal de Lavras), which aims to solve the entire energy supply of the farm with solar energy.
