Pearless Estate is located between 1,400-1,600 metres above sea level in the Nyeri region, surrounded by Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range. The 22-hectare plantation was founded in the 1940s, and most of its coffee trees date back to that time, so it's no wonder that the vast majority of them (almost 98%) are of the popular SL28 and SL34 varieties. Another exciting fact about the plantation is the use of the natural processing method which is quite uncommon in Kenya. In such cases, the coffee cherries are first washed with fresh water from the nearby river and then dried on raised beds for 21-28 days, depending on the weather conditions. Coffee cherries are turned at least four times a day in order to ensure even drying.
