La Bonita is run by second-generation coffee farmer Rogelio Espinoza. The two-hectare farm is located near the town of Pinares in the Department of Huila, at an altitude of 1,400 metres above sea level. Since the purchase of the plantation, Rogelio has believed in improvements and high-quality coffee, that's why he grows varieties such as Gesha and Java. The name of the farm, La Bonita, takes its name from the beautiful view from there. The harvest lasts from April to June, followed by a second harvest (called Mitaca) in September. The coffee cherries are harvested by hand, then after being sorted by the floating method, they are dried on so-called marquesinas (raised beds protected by foil tents). Rogelio employs one person on the farm all year round, and hires occasional picking workers during the harvest.
