El Paraiso

The plantation of Lucio Mamani, named El Paraiso is located near the municipality of Caranavi in North Yungas, at an altitude of about 1,580 metres above sea level. Lucio’s coffee is made out of selectively hand-harvested and dry-processed Red Caturra coffee cherries dried on raised beds.

Lucio Mamani was born in the high lands of La Paz and moved to Los Yungas when he was still a child. He has been a coffee producer all his life. He lives on his farm and besides taking care of his plantation, he cultivates a beautiful garden and likes to play football with his neighbours. At El Paraiso the practice of selective harvest is used, so only the ripe cherries are picked, then washed and dried on raised beds. Lucio usually processes his coffees as washed coffees, but this lot is the first one he used natural process and the result is amazing.
