Established in 2007, the Muyongwe washing station, located in the Northern Province of Rwanda, works with several small-scale farmers from the area. During the harvest season, in addition to Muyongwe, farmers from Coko, Rushashi, Rulindo and Muhondo also prefer to sell their coffee cherries at the Muyongwe CWS. Thanks to the strict focus on quality at every stage of processing, they have been able to achieve many accolades over the years, including a Cup of Excellence overall first place. Coffee processed at a higher quality can be sold at a higher price: in addition to sharing the extra profit, Muyongwe spends significant sums on health insurance, agricultural education and schooling of their children.
