Gahahe
BURUNDI
This wet-processed Bourbon varietal is our last batch this year from Burundi. It comes from the Gahahe washing station, located in the Kyanza region at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level. The country’s coffee is almost entirely sold by small producers, the quality of which is excellent in most cases. With its super sweet and clean coffees, Burundi is pinned on our map every year.

Gahahe is located at 1800 metres above sea level in the Kayanza province of northern Burundi, about 90 kilometres from the former capital, Bujumbura. Greenco, the company that oversees Gahahe and other 12 coffee processing facilities in Kayanza province of Burundi, gives washing stations and producers support all along the production chain. They started their work in 2015, and have dominated all Cup of Excellence competitions in Burundi ever since. Currently, Greenco has 13 washing stations all located in Kayanza in the north of Burundi. The producers receive support from the CWS managers, who are all agronomic engineers. Greenco’s overall impact through these 13 central washing stations (CWS) extends to over 15200 coffee-producing households.
